Background to this clip

Originally commissioned by BT for their FutureTalk in Education initiative, Lottie Learns to Listen is one of six stories we performed live for 5 to 7-year olds, exploring key communication skills such as listening and literacy in an engaging way. For older audiences we created the theatre piece Lost for Words enabling the children to determine the outcomes. Over the course of the two-and-a-half-year programme, we delivered 1,400 storytelling and 480 theatre performances. A marked improvement in children's communication skills has been measured by independent research from NFER.

Arc Theatre continues to develop young people's skills around the country with a range of storytelling programmes and workshops designed to raise self-esteem, tackle peer-pressure and bullying and harness potential, while also addressing key aspects of the curriculum.
